Model Based Systems Engineering is a powerful tool to federate teams around a centralized source of truth and share information about a product concept of operations, system design and descriptions.
While the systems engineering teams are equipped with Capella (or generally speaking any other MBSE tool) and have direct access to the model; other stakeholders that require access to this information to get inputs for their own activities may not have the tools or access rights to operate with the model.
Capella offers document generation capabilities to solve this aspect.
- Models can be exported to HTML format, providing a web-like representation that allows to navigate through the model using the XHTML tool.
- M2Doc allows export to Word format, based on user defined templates; which makes it ideal to generate traditional documents.
In both cases, the model owners need to export the representation, that therefore may become obsolete if the model keeps being updated.
In Anzen we have developed an alternative solution with a webapp that allows to load a model and consult it directly from a web browser, not requiring installation of Capella and any particular extension. This tool has been conceived with two main objectives:
- Provide a light tool that allow users to drag and drop a model file and start navigating through it.
- Integrate the tool into an automated workflow, maintaining a web view of the system design always up-to-date, synchronized with the source of truth – the model.
